What’s the Narrative of YOUR Story? 🔥

As grateful as I am for Western medicine, I do envision an evolution in terms of how diagnoses and prognoses are presented to patients. 👩‍⚕️🧑‍⚕️

From my own experience as strong minded as I am AND having done tons of personal transformation & self development work prior to cancer, receiving the news of a prognosis impacted me severely! 😨

And that was BEFORE it was escalated to glioblastoma grade 4! 😳

I became SUPER intentional and aware of my thoughts, catching them quickly before I spiraled to the doctor’s words with a prognosis of 3-5 years to live…

Instead I’d choose my FUTURE VISION story instead of that prognosis story… which btw my life expectancy decreased to 12-18mos AFTER escalation! 😒

Knowing the impact it had on me considering all the work I had done, I can only imagine how others would be impacted with such news…

Losing ALL hope… 😞

Going into fear mode, causing the nervous system to become dysregulated… 😖

Thus the immune system shutting down… 😵‍💫

And then Nocebo effect taking over. 🥴

If you’re familiar with the Placebo effect, Nocebo has the same power, yet it comes from a negative perspective and expectation, causing a worse effect than it otherwise would have…

With Placebo, you believe a sugar pill will heal you and so it does…

Likewise if you believe the prognosis, then guess what happens? 😳

Now I needed that level of “seriousness” to wake my ass up tho! 😬

It’s what ignited this fire & passion inside me to connect to my soul’s purpose and work with others to change the narrative of THEIR story! 🥰

So when I saw my neurosurgeon, Dr. Frank Coufal, last week after over 7 years, I asked him if he remembered me…

I gave him a big hug and thanked him for saving my life since he did such a phenomenal job with my craniotomy! 😍

I also reminded him it’s been over 7 years and that I had a glioblastoma tumor, which caused his eyes to pop out like cartoons. 👀

It all started coming back to him as Ashkan showed him my incision too. 🧠

I’ve wanted to email him for a while to let him know I’ve surpassed the prognosis and thriving! 😍

And in person was even better! 🥹

The more success stories doctors have in their back pocket, the more they can share those stories with new patients so at least that gives them hope! 😄

I also saw a couple of my nurses on the ICU floor and we talked one of them, who remembered both Ashkan & me, and gave me the biggest hug! 🤗

ICU NURSE KELLY

The nurses were amazing & super sweet during my time at Scripps Memorial…

I even saw the room I was in where we watched the McGregor & Mayweather fight! 🥊

It was so nostalgic being there and seeing it from a visitor’s viewpoint rather than a patient. 🥲

It was a reminder of ALL I went thru and where I am today, truly believing that although it was the toughest time of my life, it was the best thing that could have happened to me… and I’d do it all over again! 🥰

And this rebirth has gifted me the opportunity to work with other souls dealing with life altering medical conditions to shift their perspective AND healing the trauma that’s the root cause! 🥹❤️‍🩹🥲
